Go green and create jobs — Lib Dems

Bullet Point 2010-04-18 19:12:56

Dave with a wind turbineLiberal Democrat plans for green jobs have been given the thumbs up by local campaigners in Hackney. The proposals, launched by party leader Nick Clegg and Vince Cable, the Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor, call for more investment in home insulation and the railways. Hackney South parliamentary candidate, Dave Raval said, “This plan will create jobs and cut household energy bills. It will mean better transport links across the UK.

“There are many people in Hackney who are having great difficulty getting onto the housing ladder. Liberal Democrat plans to help people through the recession include building new, affordable homes that will be cheap to run because they are insulated to the highest standards.

“And this means less pollution. It’s good for the planet, good for your pocket and good for jobs!”

Local Lib Dems used the launch of the green jobs plan to attack the record of Gordon Brown’s Labour government on jobs.

“With the jobless figures showing 2 million out of work, Gordon Brown and Labour have taken the economy from boom to bust,” said Dave Raval.
