Lib-Dems call for estate clean up

Local campaigner Brian Stone has written to the council and Hanover in Hackney demanding immediate action after receiving complaints from residents around Upper Clapton of a strong smell emanating from the mostly disused ground floor of Buccleuch House on Clapton Common.
Brian said "Whilst we appreciate that this building is earmarked for re-development, it is unacceptable that it has been allowed to deteriorate to the level it has done.
"The current state of the place is not conducive to the health of passers by and indeed anyone who still lives in the block.
"We've been promised action on housing for years, but all that has happened is that Hackney have failed to qualify for the Decent Homes money needed, through their own poor management."
