'Are fare rises an indication of what we can expect from a Conservative Government?' - Mike Tuffrey AM

Bullet Point 2008-09-18 21:34:03

Commenting on the Mayor's 'Organising for Delivery' statement made at Mayor's Question Time this morning, Mike Tuffrey AM, the leader of the Liberal Democrat Group at the London Assembly, says: "What's important is that this goes to providing better services and if this announcement is an indication of a direction of travel for a Conservative government then it's surprising that Mayor Boris Johnson's first big decision is to put fares up over inflation.

"We hope that isn't a pre-cursor of things to come."

Tory mayor, Boris Johnson has announced increases of up to 10% on tube and travelcard fares from January.
