Lib-Dems back residents' fight for Frampton Park
Lib-Dem leader, Cllr Ian Sharer, last night led a deputation of local residents to the full council meeting, to try and stop the Labour council's ridiculous Estates Plus scheme.
Frampton Park resident, Benedict Seymour, told the council how the plans to "infill" the estate with new buildings would lead to a radical decrease in the amount of green space available to residents, would lead to higher crime and was being brought forward by the council despite huge opposition from residents.
Cllr Sharer commented "The Labour council has completely lost touch with reality with these proposals. Frampton Park is already a high density estate, and although the proposals only add a relatively small number of new homes, they will result in the loss of a large proportion of the green space on the estate. Residents were poorly consulted and the proposals keep changing. If Frampton Park is the flagship for the council's scheme, I can only wonder as to how bad the proposals they are saving up for our other estates will be."
He concluded "I have been very pleased to help local residents to bring their voice forward to the council, and to work with MESH, LCAP and the TRA. It is only a shame that the council could not have listened to residents in the first place by holding the consultation at a reasonable time, when working people could attend, and then have dropped this scheme which nobody wants."
