CANCER VICTIM THREATENED WITH EVICTION
Stoke Newington cancer victim Neil Jones is threatened with eviction from his Truman’s Road home because, he says, the property owners won’t accept the Council’s payment arrangements for Housing Benefit.
Housing Benefit is paid by the Council every four weeks – 13 times a
year. But Private Property Management Services Ltd., of Stoke Newington Road, want it paid monthly – 12 times a year. So they are
evicting tenants from their homes.
Mr. Jones is receiving treatment following an operation for cancer. “I don’t want to be a burden on society,” he says. “I want to be able to get back to work. But I’m being bullied and abused.”
Liberal Democrat council candidate Karelia Scott is investigating the case. “We seem to have a property company here that is systematically evicting its tenants. I have written to them seeking explanations.
“No one should have to go through this trauma – let alone a man who is recovering from cancer.”
