Eva Steinhardt: Hackney's Liberal Future
I'm Eva, your Liberal Democrat candidate for the Mayor of Hackney in the election on 7th May 2026.
I came to London in 2017 as a postgrad student and have stayed here ever since. I've worked for the Law Society and Change.org, and am passionate about social justice issues and improving the lives of everyone in Hackney. I live here too, with my partner on a houseboat.
I'm campaigning to:
- Make Hackney affordable, by getting more homes on the market to cut rent, and by capping high leasehold charges
- Providing better care services so that everyone gets fair support locally
- Fight Labour cuts and protect local police to make our streets safer, as well as taking action on Bike Theft
- Defend our parks from building, and support nature and wellbeing
- Use parking and traffic fine money to repair local roads and pavements, and look again at some of the LTNs which are performing badly.
Please let me know what you think about my priorities for the borough! Filling out this short survey is a great way to help me and my team know what local people are thinking in the run-up to the election. Thank you for taking a few minutes to do this and please get in touch with any other questions.
